Charlotte de Witte
Short History & Biography
Charlotte de Witte, born on 21 July 1992 in Ghent, Belgium, is renowned for her dark, stripped-back style of acid and minimal techno. She began DJing around 2010 and initially performed under the alias Raving George to bypass gender bias in the industry. Her career gained significant traction in 2015 when she dropped her alias and shifted her focus firmly to techno, releasing the Weltschmerz EP and rapidly becoming a leading figure in the genre. She founded the influential label KNTXT in 2019 and, more recently, launched Époque in 2024. Across the years, Charlotte has consistently held the No. 1 spot in DJ Mag’s Techno Top 100 (2022, 2023, 2024) and topped DJ Mag’s Alternative Top 100 powered by Beatport (2020, 2021) (source: Wikipedia).
